MyMail

Image
MyMail is a iOS and Android application. It is a nice mail app that allows you to get email from all your accounts. It's not a desktop app although it great for mail on the go. I have tried the stock mail apps and they just don't compare to this app. It is user friendly you can easily import all your contacts. Plus with this app you can choose when you want to receive your notifications. You can turn off notifications for certain folders, domains, and contacts. This app allows you to hide the sender or subject from popping up on notification screen. This is a feature that I haven't seen in other stock mail apps.

Mint

Mint is a cross platform application that works on your computer, iOS, and Android devices. It is a place you can link you banking and credit cards which allows you to track investments and create budgets. Mint categorizes and updates your account information. This application helps you manage your money. Plus this app is free and works with most financial institutions and most important it is secure.

Waze

Image
If you are a driver you should check out Waze. It is a GPS app that works on iOS and Android. The app ensures you are taking the fastest route and will redirect you around traffic. Waze tracks more than traffic it tracks police, red lights, construction, and even accidents. This app will shorten your commute, it uses other users to keep the most up to date traffic information. You get to know you estimated arrival time with Waze save time, money, and gas.

Google Chrome

Image
Google Chrome is a free app that is cross platform. Google Chrome allows you to add extensions to customize your user experience. You can pin pages and quickly bookmark your favorite sites. Google Chrome is available on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android. I enjoy it due to the built in flash player. This is one of my most used apps because it is just familiar across each device. This app is great for personal and business users.

Microsoft To-Do

Image
Microsoft To Do is a cross platform app that allows you to schedule your day. I blogged about Wunderlist which is what I was using. I'm trying to go to Microsoft To Do based on Wunderlist letting me know the new app is Microsoft To Do now. I will say the app is a more simplified version of Wunderlist. The biggest challenge I have with the move is adding files to notes. This is a feature that are not available in Microsoft To Do as of now. Suggestions is the feature I am most excited about. In addition you can export from Wunderlist and import to Microsoft To Do. Microsoft To Do themes are still available to add a nice touch to your to do list. I'm starting fresh with Microsoft To Do. This is going to be a big deal if you are using Wunderlist for your daily to do list. I'm not sure how much longer Wunderlist will be available is why I decided to make a switch now. If you are new to a to do application this is a great pick for you.

Pocket

Image
Looking to save bookmarks of list of articles, pictures, videos, or anything else you find interesting online. Pocket is one of my most used apps. It is the storage space for anything I'd like to save or view at a later time. I enjoy using Pocket over just bookmarking sites on a browser. Since Pocket is cross platform you can see your bookmarks on any device. This is a great app for personal or business use.

MyFitnessPal

Image
MyFitnessPal is a great health app. It allows you to track your calories, meals, and weight. I enjoy using this app to have a journal of what I eat. This app is easy to use and also has a community you can interact with. This has been my go to application since using a competitive app. I will say this app is a bit more user friendly and has a bigger community. This app has great tips for recipes and also tracking activities. If you are looking to maintain, lose, or gain weight this is a application worth trying out.

Dropbox

Image
Dropbox is a cross platform cloud storage. This is great for pictures, files, videos, and music. Personally I use it for music although that is one feature I enjoy most. Dropbox the app has a built in music player that works well. The music player is rare to fine in cloud storage now days. I use the free version which has 2GB of storage. You can create folders to tidy up your work flow. Dropbox was around before Google Drive so it's not a replacement. This app is simple and productive for a busy workflow.

Wunderlist

Image
Wunderlist is a to do list application I enjoy using. This to do list works with your computer, iOS, and Android device. This app is great for to do list and setting due date plus reminders. You can set a theme to your liking. You are able to create list and also create folders for your list. This is a simple app that allows you to share your project with others as well. Plus you are able to add files with this simple to do list. This isn't a Google Keep replacement. Although some key features are the sort function that allows you the sort your to dos by creation date, due date, alphabetically, and priority. If you can't find a item you can search for items. This was a recommended app to me by a family member. I have been using it ever since the recommendation.

Send Anywhere

Image
Send Anywhere is a great app that allows you to send pictures, videos, audio, apps, plus files to and from any device. This works on Android, iOS, and computer. This is a application you can use on a Firestick for APKs as well. I have tried other apps but none have compared to this one due to all the formats you can send and receive. I came across this app when I didn't have the USB cable from my phone to computer. This app will help anyone that has media to move to another device. No login needed the desktop site is send-anywhere.com

BBM

Image
BBM also known as Black Berry Messenger. This is a great messaging app that works on Blackberry, iOS, and Android. This is a great alternative to WhatsApp if you need something to work on both platforms. This will not be a iMessage replacement if you are all in on iOS and Mac. BBM is great secure way to send and receive messages along with video calling. So no need for Skype with this app. This app has a private chat capability so you can chat privately than the chat gets deleted. Great use for businesses is timed messages, you can set a timer for messages so they are deleted after a preview. Which businesses can also use channels similar to Facebook but for Blackberry messenger.  This app is packed with secure features that is great for personal and/or business users.

IFTTT

Image
The application I found interesting is IFTTT. Stands for If This Then That which is really neat cross platform tool to use. This is a app that allows you to start a command for one app and control another app. For example I wanted to share my Apple calendar to my Google calendar. Which works well now when I book a appointment on the Apple calendar it will appear in Google calendar. This is a great way for me not to have to choose which calendar to use. Due to writing this I'm going to set up a command for Blogger to Twitter. So follow me there @kriscamware. This application is full of popular services that can be used. I recommend this application for anyone looking to be free from logging in to one service at a time to get a task done. Since finding this I will have a more simplistic workflow.

WordPress

Image
I used to use WordPress and a couple things to note compared to Blogger. First note is I don't see a mobile application for Blogger. When I used WordPress I wrote this on the blog: This blog post is written on my phone. This is a great example of a site that built for many ways to consume or put out content. I enjoy the mobile application since I can do the same things I would do on a desktop. I recommend WordPress to everyone it is free and easy to use. I closed the app and the work was saved to a draft. Nice touch for WordPress. Now using Blogger I enjoy the functionally just as much. Although if you need to blog on the go WordPress may be your choice. Personally I use Google Docs on my mobile and copy my mobile blog ideas like now and paste them into a post. That is my work around since I do get blog idesa like this on the go. Personally some of the problems I had with WordPress was the pages. I'd set up a page and it wouldn't appear on the blog. For example a About Me

Hello

Image
Hello. My name is Kris. I'm going to blog about cross platform and mobile applications. Plus any other interesting things to show and review. I know a blog isn't easy although I'd like to give it a shot. If you have any applications recommendations let me know so I can check it out.
